China’s semiconductor ecosystem:

China has made huge progress in many areas of semiconductor chip-making, but the Holy Grail of high-end lithography is still out of reach.

For now, Chinese companies depend on ASML (Netherlands), Canon and Nikon (Japan). 

But even here, US sanctions keep the EUV and higher machines out of China.
