According to Gabbard, this intelligence—specifically the use of the Steele Dossier—was knowingly false and used to launch investigations aiming to delegitimize Trump, which she characterizes as an attempted "years-long coup"; however, mainstream investigations and bipartisan Senate reports have reaffirmed that Russia did interfere to help Trump in 2016, and leading congressional Democrats have dismissed Gabbard’s new claims as unfounded and an attempt to rewrite history.
