@saltatrixsolo @copesint that very much tracks with our family anecdotes even in the USSR's "window to the west" (GDR): we had extended family living close to Berlin who we sent care packages to, including the "good" Persil detergent, which they praised for its' hand-wash qualities in the early 70s still
