POPE RENEWS PEACE PLEA  

Pope Leo renewed his call for a ceasefire and expressed alarm over Gaza’s worsening humanitarian crisis during a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Vatican said Friday.   

The call came after an Israeli strike killed three people at Gaza's only Catholic church, prompting the pope to stress the need to protect civilians and places of worship.
