Haiti also failed to establish itself as properly sovereign & has had nominative "independence" for centuries, but is still fundamentally a puppet state. France turned it into a debt farm after the revolution, & still practiced suzerainty. They didn't even get *the whole island*-- the Haitians wanted the Dominicans to pay their debts too, but Spain refused to pay France for that. Is that sovereignty? Then Michel Oreste, the President, asked US Marines to take their gold reserves back to New York. This is not a successful revolution-- this is a catastrophic failure.
