If you have a show that's earning revenue of $200M/year, probably you're spending of order $100M to make it, right?  Like, if you were spending vastly less, probably it's worth it on the margins to spend more. 

But then, when there's a downturn (currently losing $40/year, iirc), they don't fire people or issue paychecks for sticky wages and social reasons.
