I do think it is a problem, though. There are countless reasons why people “divorce” their parents. There are strong reasons (like violence) and weak reasons (like differences of opinion). It’s the weak reasons that can cause the worst emotional distress in a parent. I didn’t see eye to eye with my dad in his later years, but I made an effort to visit every week because he worked his butt off to make sure his family was provided for. He earned my respect and I was not going to let him agonize over whether I had forgotten about him. He’s gone now, but I know he was grateful and that means something to me. I have seen many young women speak ill of their fathers or say that they haven’t talked for years. As a father myself, I find that seriously disturbing. Showing respect to one’s parents takes effort sometimes, but most parents have sacrificed years of their life and a small fortune to raise us. If you don’t find that humbling, chances are you’re not the person you think you are. XXX engagements [Post Link](https://x.com/ErlingsTake/status/1946691844177322486)
