Fred Vasseur reveals Charles Leclerc Ferrari instruction 'he cannot change':

— Fred Vasseur explained that he cannot instruct Charles Leclerc to alter his F1 approach despite the driver's intense self-criticism. After qualifying sixth at the British Grand Prix, Leclerc harshly criticized himself in an unbroadcast radio message, calling his performance "f**king s**t" after a disappointing final lap. The race strategy further compounded the team's woes, with Leclerc finishing 14th after an ill-timed pit stop for slick tyres.

— Vasseur emphasized Leclerc's ability to self-reflect, noting both its strengths and drawbacks. Speaking to media, Vasseur remarked:

“One of Charles' qualities is that he can blame himself, and one of the faults of Charles is that sometimes he blames himself too much.”

— He appreciated Leclerc's accountability, seeing it as a positive trait that doesn't mislead the team. Vasseur continued:

“I appreciate a lot that the driver can say, 'Okay, it was my mistake' and this is a positive because it is not bringing the team in the right direction.”

— Vasseur highlighted the human aspect of drivers acknowledging their errors. He added:

“It shows that they are human, they make mistakes like everybody, and it is good to have drivers able to see this.”

— Reflecting on past advice given to Leclerc, Vasseur recalled:

“I remember two years ago we were telling him that, 'Charles, we are scoring points on Sunday, let's be more focused on Sunday,' because in 2023, we did five or six pole positions and had zero wins for Charles.”

— Vasseur concluded that they cannot revert to previous instructions, stating:

“We were pushing him in this direction, and now we can't tell him to go back to the previous situation.”
