Everyone on CT is talking about how @EspressoSys supercharges cross-chain communication, but here I found about one of the most important feature of espresso: Recycled HotShot Commitments

The headache so far :
Every rollup that wants an L1 anchor must post its own block high gas and duplicating data.
Smaller apps skip it, leaving users in “trust me bro” situation when bridges or proofs need an on-chain reference (remember the Nomad bridge incidence ? that lost $XXX M because its root data weren’t independently verified).

Here is what espresso is doing differently
:- HotShot already checkpoints a 32-byte commitment for every shared block on Ethereum.
:- Any project can recycle that same root as its tamper-proof timestamp no extra calldata, no extra gas.

And you must be thinking why it's really matter ?? Everything was working fine before espresso, here are few reasons why :
1.Saves money – new rollups avoid ~$10 k/month in calldata fees.
2.Safer transfers – bridges verify withdrawals with a single root lookup.
3.Less code to audit – one proven contract holds every root.

Wait I'll explain you with an example :
You owe a friend $XX for pizza. Your USDC is on Arbitrum; their wallet lives on Base.
X. Your wallet batches the payment hash and hands it to HotShot off-chain.
X. HotShot posts its root on Ethereum already paid for by Espresso.
X. Your friend withdraws on Base by pointing to that same root: one proof, a few cents in gas, and no custom bridge contract.

Ethereum-grade finality, without Ethereum-grade fees, that's espresso
