Trump’s admin now exports its contempt for judicial independence—bullying Brazil’s courts while his own legal battles rage. The man who called judges “presidential usurpers” (June 6, 2025) demands Bolsonaro’s impunity through tariff threats & visa bans on Supreme Court justices. Irony dies as Trump replicates the “weaponized” system he claims to oppose.  

Brazil’s institutions expose the hypocrisy: Trump’s tariff ultimatum (effective Aug 1) & sanctions against Justice Moraes mirror his domestic playbook of intimidating oversight. Lula’s defiance—“No gringo gives orders here”—contrasts sharply with Trump’s autocrat-aligned strongarming. When U.S. officials revoke visas to shield an ally from coup charges, they don’t defend democracy—they sabotage it.  

We teach kids to stand up to bullies. Now America funds one.
