Note to Mr. O'Shea: A speed camera does nothing to thwart street takeovers. At the time, Mr. O'Shea lauded the speed camera as an effective tool to protect SJF kids. We'd like to ask Mr. O'Shea if a speed camera was his solution to a street takeover, why extoll the virtue of camera as an improvement to the safety of SJF pupils? Furthermore, if the camera was placed to protect SJF students, then why wasn't it installed earlier in your tenure? These are fair questions, Alderman O'Shea, because we believe you deliberately misled 19th Ward residents. However, what you did by casting a vote in favor of awarding $3M to a drug dealer and Satan Disciple gang member was far worse than your lethargic response to a street takeover. No, this vote was devastating. Your vote to hand over $3M in constituent tax dollars to a gang member was a staggering betrayal of your entire ward. Having long lost sight of the responsibilities of an alderman, we will remind you your primary duty is to represent the best interests of your residents. At this, you have failed miserably. It's been nearly three years since we stopped asking ourselves why you have assumed certain political positions, cast certain votes, and remained silent on important matters on the Council floor. It took us a while, but we finally learned what many of 19th Ward residents have known for years. You, Mr. O'Shea, are driven only by the desire for self-preservation. Doubtlessly, your vote to turn over $3M to an armed gang member who fled CPD was performed to pander to the woke dopes in Beverly and to indulge Chicago's incompetent mayor in exchange for preserving your plum chairmanship of the meaningless Aviation Cmte. With this vote, you tore the pretense you are an unyielding supporter of CPD to shreds and revealed yourself to be an arch-betraying Judas. Ald. O'Shea: You can continue wearing a CPD Memorial vest around your ward or hosting the Behind the Vest breakfasts, but your vote to gift $3M to a drug dealer and gang member was an act in which you surrendered any legitimate claim you are a friend to Chicago Police.
