Moldova has barred the pro-Russian “Pobeda” (Victory) bloc, led by Ilan Shor, from participating in the upcoming parliamentary elections. Shor is under sanctions imposed by the United States, the European Union and Ukraine. He also fled to Moscow 

The country’s Central Election Commission cited violations during the bloc’s campaign, including undeclared expenses related to trips made by its members to Russia. The “Victory” bloc is known for its anti-Western rhetoric. 

Ilan Shor fled Moldova in 2019 after being convicted in a $X billion bank fraud case. He first went to Israel, where he holds citizenship, and later fled to Moscow in 2023, where he launched the pro-Russian “Pobeda” bloc.
