Majority of India thinks UPI is the best thing on planet earth and its a tech which many countries are dying to get. 

While I agree UPI is commendable and payTm really changed the payment scene, but just like paytm once the MDR that govt is subsidizing will dry up, let's see how long will UPI stay in its current form. 

Personally as a customer for me NFC based tap pay is far far far superior to UPI. No bank account linkage, no internet, Rarely fails and works globally. 

As a merchant, I find UPI not useful at all. The rupay cards have the highest MDR after Amex and I don't get that X MDR for txns under 2k so has no appeal. 

Upi is great primarily for the X MDR and instant settlement. The former might not stay forever though.
