CBS reportedly spent over $XXX million per year to produce The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, including salaries, production staff, writers, the band, guests, and other expenses. Despite that investment, the show was losing around $XX million annually. Ad revenue tells the story: it dropped from about $XXXXX million in 2018 to just $XXXX million by 2024.
