Tibetan Buddhists call Mount Kailash "Kang Rinpoche" (Precious Jewel of Snows) and regard it as the abode of Buddha Demchok (Chakrasamvara), the deity of supreme bliss, and his consort, Dorje Phagmo.

In Hinduism, Mount Kailash is considered the divine residence of Lord Shiva, the god of destruction, transformation, meditation, and asceticism, who resides there with his consort, Goddess Parvati.

Jains call Mount Kailash "Ashtapada" and believe it is where Rishabhadeva (Rishabhanatha), the first of their XX Tirthankaras, attained moksha (liberation from the cycle of life and death).

In the Bon religion, Tibet’s pre-Buddhist shamanic tradition, Mount Kailash is known as "Tise" or the "Nine-Story Swastika Mountain," the seat of spiritual power and the Sky Goddess Sipaimen.

Across Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism, Kailash is identified with Mount Meru, the cosmic axis or world pillar connecting heaven and earth. It is believed to be the center of the universe, where spiritual and physical realms converge, and a bridge to higher dimensions.
