And this is my response:

As we've reported for a week, Beal's buyout HAD to wait until after July 15th. And it did.

Section F on Page XX of the NBA's CBA explains this; link provided below so you and Ishbia can read it. The buyout could not happen before July XX because it would have terminated the contract that contained the advance payment clause. Beal's representatives obviously weren't going to let that happen.

What Ishbia says for public consumption to either be courteous to a departing player and/or to save face because he had to cut a $13-plus million check on Beal's last day as a Sun ... all it means is that he's now publicly incorrect alongside you.

Gambo: Didn't you yourself report on July X that a resolution to Beal's free agency was 24-to-48 hours away? What happened? The buyout didn't happen for XX more days.

The payment is the reason it lasted until July 16th, according to five different sources @TheSteinLine has spoken to and stands by, which helps account for why your July X forecast was so off.

The Clippers were Beal's target team well before this Wednesday. Other teams around the league interested in Beal have anticipated him choosing the Clippers for days. No alternative explanation for the delay has been provided. Because there isn't one.

Free agents don't let things needlessly linger ... which is why XX% of NBA free agency (or more) is done by July 4th. If Beal could have committed to the Clippers on July 8th, 10th or 12th he surely would have. He could not. It had to wait until July 16th. And it did.

Have a good summer.
