Katherine Maher is a typical Big Brother adherent, Ministry of Truth dogma. 

Lie lie lie. Lie even after it’s patently clear what the truth is. It’s a powerful mechanism because the NPCs will continue to believe the lies. It must be true if she’s saying it so passionately, right?

Oh and just a reminder that Maher is on the board of Signal Foundation. We should be a bit frightened.
