The convention was organized by Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, who read the "Declaration of Sentiments and Grievances." It was modeled closely on the Declaration of Independence and its preamble, "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men and women are created equal; and that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights..." The convention was held for X days and kicked off the women's suffrage movement for equal rights in America.
