I hope you’re not seriously suggesting a Waymo vehicle only costs the price of a Jaguar F-Pace plus $XXX in hardware. Even without being a hardware expert, it’s clear there’s significantly more involved than just $XXX worth of sensors.

We’re talking about advanced compute units, redundant systems, specialized cameras, LiDAR, radar arrays — all of which are costly. And that’s before factoring in the physical integration, calibration, labor, and ongoing maintenance.

Let’s not forget: these vehicles aren’t natively built for autonomy. Retrofitting them with this level of tech adds up quickly.
