Why doctors use 100MG/DL as fasting baseline? Are they idiots? Or is there some logic behind it.

They use XXX mg/dl as it equals X grams in X liters. Every human being has X liters and hence the number XXX MG per XXX ML.

If you understand this, you can now understand why a 200-300 mg/dl is a death sentence.
