Besides the plummeting cost curve, the other truly disruptive aspect of solar PV, wind and batteries is how it decentralizes energy production.

You can add incremental power generation in digestible bite-sized chunks to remote locations without having to first build high fixed cost distribution infrastructure like roads (for CNG), pipelines (for natural gas) and high-voltage transmission lines (for power from centralized production).

Think about how transformative this is for poor, undeveloped countries that have historically been fossil fuel poor, or for regions inside countries that have not yet had the benefit of being connected via modern infrastructure.
