As someone who has been a part of this industry since years now, I believe:

The "gold rush" was fueled by scarcity:

• Few auditors.
• Lots of VC money.
• Everyone launching fast.
• Protocols terrified of ending up in a Rari-style hack thread.

It wasn’t sustainable.

Fast forward to 2025:

• We have more firms, more tools, more security platforms.

• Many protocols now have in-house security engineers.

• Formal verification, fuzzing, LLMs, and TEE-based monitoring are rising.

• Audit contests are now one piece of the pipeline, not the entire security plan for most protocol teams.

Can't expect every bounty to look like the Optimism or LayerZero contests from 2022.
