Donald Trump’s β€œbig, beautiful” spending bill is making travelers pay up.

A fresh $XXX fee will be slapped on most foreign visitors to the U.S. - including tourists, students, and business travelers - if they’re from countries that need a visa to enter.

That means much of Asia, Africa, and South America is on the hook.
Europe? Mostly safe, thanks to the Visa Waiver Program.

The kicker: this fee starts in 2026 and can increase with inflation.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem will decide the final cost.
And yes - there’s a catch: if visitors follow all the visa rules, they can apply for reimbursement. But how fast or easy that process will be? TBD.

It’s a clear message from Trump 2.0: β€œYou want to visit America? You’ll help pay for it.”

β€’ Could deter tourism from emerging markets already battling currency devaluation
β€’ May hit U.S. universities relying on international students
β€’ Business travel and short-term trade visits could slow, especially from visa-restricted nations
β€’ Reimbursement policy adds bureaucratic friction - expect complaints and delays
β€’ Potential for retaliatory visa fees from affected countries
