Just as it isn't the role for a Gams Show Host. There are plenty of other roles throughout media to do political advocacy. It shouldn't be about Colbert himself, but about the American TV audience he broadcasts to. But ultimately, it is CBS's fault for either directing or permitting it. These shows were cultural glue. Unifying. But at least two of them have become places where half the country laughs at the other half. The world is different now. Certainly more divided. But part of that division comes from cultural institutions like these overlooking their responsibility to make all Americans feel welcome.
