Any Christian that lauds themselves as being highly virtuous or acts as if they are morally superior is not only a hypocrite but condemned by the very God they claim to worship.

Likewise any Bitcoin’er that believes they are better than any Fed chair deceives themselves into thinking they are worthy of being a monetary god.

It is tempting to let one’s pride flourish under the mask of virtue and good works.

It is one of the most repulsive things newcomers find when they enter a Church or when they talk to a Bitcoin’er. This sends them away in (understandable) disgust and the person delights even more in their own “virtue” in seeing this “other” depart from him. He doesn’t care about the other’s well being he only cares about his pride. It was never about the person it was always about using the person as a means to their own end.

In many ways twisting virtue in pride is worse on the heart than evil alone.

————————

To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable: ‘Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.

The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other people—robbers, evildoers, adulterers—or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.’

“But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’

“I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
