It forms when the open, low, and close prices are nearly the same, with a long upper wick indicating that bulls initially pushed the price higher but were ultimately overpowered by bears, forcing the price back down by the close. This leaves the candle with a long upper shadow and a small or non-existent lower body. - To trade a gravestone doji, wait for a bearish confirmation on the next candle, such as a close below the low of the doji, before entering a short position. - Set an entry just below the low of the gravestone doji to capture the downside and place a stop-loss above the high of the doji to limit risk if the pattern fails.
