This Is What the World’s Largest Telescope Will Look Like 

Rising from the otherworldly Atacama Desert in Chile, the Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) is under construction on Cerro Armazones—and it’s set to change astronomy forever.

Once complete, ELT will be absolutely massive—so huge that the Hubble Space Telescope would look tiny beside it, measuring just one-quarter its size. And here’s the kicker: ELT will capture images XX times sharper than Hubble’s.

A true giant is coming to the cosmos.
