While community programs matter, the Department of Education’s failure to track outcomes proves this isn’t about kids—it’s about sustaining administrative bloat.

The AFTER SCHOOL Act (S.1571) doubles down on this failure by authorizing $60M through 2029 without mandating performance audits or tying funding to crime reduction metrics.

Real solutions require redirecting existing funds to local law enforcement partnerships and vocational training - not rubber-stamping more open-ended grants for D.C.’s education-industrial complex.
