Because it represents the "Black Sun" or "Dark Star". The Sumerians called it Etu (Dark)-Zal (Zal, Zol, Sal, Sol ...as in Solar system). Ancient cultures around the world believed we are a binary star system, with the second sun being a brown dwarf beyond Pluto near the Oort Cloud. Every XXXXX years, Nibiru orbits both suns and comes close to Earth. If seen in the night sky, it would appear to have fiery wings (its atmosphere leeching away). Every time this happens, there are volcanic eruptions, changes in weather, and floods. I guess people thought all that was important enough to record on every continent.
