Morocco advanced to the semifinals of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations  after defeating Mali 3–1 in a charged quarterfinal match on Friday evening at the Moulay Abdellah Complex in Rabat, where a packed stadium cheered on the Lionesses of the Atlas.

Building on a confident group stage, Morocco took an early lead through Ibtissam Jraidi, who scored in the 7th minute following a well-executed team move.

The Moroccan side, led by coach Jorge Vilda, displayed tactical discipline, alternating between composed possession and measured offensive bursts.

Despite Mali’s physical resilience and determined pressing, Morocco maintained territorial control throughout the first half. Jraidi struck again in the 80th minute from the penalty spot, firing under the crossbar to secure her second goal of the match and third of the tournament.

Morocco’s victory revives hopes of replicating its 2022 final run.
