After a wait of over XX hours, Rukungiri District NRM elections officer Wright Mwongyera has declared former Rubabo County Member of Parliament, Mary Paula Turyahikayo, as the winner of the Rukungiri District NRM party primary elections.

Ms. Turyahikayo polled XXXXXX votes (52.6%), defeating the current Woman Member of Parliament, Medius Natukunda Kaharata, who garnered XXXXXX votes (39.5%).

Other candidates in the race included Musiimenta Caledonia with XXX votes (0.4%), Nabaasa Innocent with XXXXX votes (3.6%), and Nuwagaba Annah with XXXXX votes (3.0%).

Meanwhile, the tallying exercise for the Rubabo County NRM flag bearer is still ongoing at the Rukungiri District headquarters, which is serving as the tally center.
