Graham, you say you live in the "Great South Land."

But you walk on stolen soil.

You speak a colonizer’s tongue.

And wave a flag that still bows to a foreign crown.

So let’s not pretend you float above empire.

You are standing on it.

You tell me to "respectfully disagree" while your entire country exists because your ancestors "respectfully invaded"?

Try telling that to the bones beneath your feet.

Australia was a penal colony built on genocide.

And you're lecturing China about empire?

You don’t get to posture as neutral when your own nation was born of invasion.

You don’t get to lecture Asia while your military hosts U.S. troops and your politics follow Washington like a shadow.

China built hospitals in Tibet.

You built prisons on sacred land.

China ended serfdom.

You buried children in boarding schools and called that civilization.

China integrated a frontier province.

You erased an entire people and called it progress.

Australia doesn’t get to claim moral neutrality just because it’s geographically closer to Asia.

You’re not closer.

You’re not a neighbor.

You’re a settler colony playing middleman for empire.

Your "proximity" doesn’t make your opinion Asian.

It makes it strategic.

You speak of the Dalai Lama like he’s a saint.

But he ruled over a feudal theocracy where children were enslaved, where nobles owned people, and where monks used iron shackles, not enlightenment.

If you really care about Tibet, ask the people who now have electricity, clean water, paved roads and schools.

Not the landlords who lost their human property.

And here’s the irony you can’t escape.

You demand "freedom for Tibet" while living on land taken from the Aboriginal people, whose names, languages, and children were stripped by force.

I'll respect disagreement when it's honest.

Not when it’s weaponized.

Not when it parrots the same Cold War lines fed by empires that never apologized for their own.

You still think you’re closer to Asia?

Then act like it.

Because real proximity means listening.

Not lecturing.

Not echoing Western scripts in a different accent.

And not pretending China is the new empire while your own legacy still smells of blood and ash.

You don’t speak for Tibet.

You barely speak for the country you’re standing on.
