today's powermaxxing tip is flattery --

the attached passage describes Kissinger's attitude toward journalists, which is very similar to how he treated women.
it's how he managed to have all of DC media on a leash... and all of hollywood "starlets" on a leash

I've had no personal interaction with Sam Altman, but as a professional probability estimator, I'd say my P() that he has said ~the same line as below at least once in his life is ~0.95

Kissinger also used flattery to manipulate diplomatic power dynamics in his favour -- he was known for supplicating to banana republic leaders and strongmen, for whom the opportunity to look down on, or stand shoulder to shoulder with, a Harvard superprofessor turned womanizing celebrity superdiplomat was life's biggest high

learn three lessons from above:
X. flattery is good & powerful
X. flattery must be personalized to be effective (normies flatter in general form, "your hair is great", doesn't work, personalize it! put some passion & detail into it!)
and most orthogonally:
X. flattery is most powerful when used on those who perceive themselves as below you: by flattering them, you allay their insecurity. flattery on superiors is orders of magnitude weaker (yet overused by normies) -- you only allay your own anxiety of being punished, it's a self-help trick, doesn't really +power nearly as much

thanks
