Yes. And some trees more than others. Douglas firs near Seattle are PISSED OFF - they don’t like people much. 

Willows and especially maple LOVE people. 

Poplars seem smart - a 15ish year old bushy grove of them can get quite “chatty” - I felt  that very intensely at dusk when the light wind and temperature changes. 

This was in south England near Binstead/Arundel - that whole “ancient woodland” is very friendly to humans. The tawny owls will actually look at you and follow you for fun. 

All that British literature with taking animals - Narnia, Winnie the Pooh - it comes out of that place having been so gently  cultivated for millennia. 

So yes - those things “talk” as much as dogs do. 

Research “primary perception” with galvanic response of plants  in lie detectors  if you really want to deep dive on it.
