Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu, recently elected as the NRM flag bearer for Sheema South, has called for the dismissal of party members who lose primaries and then choose to run as independents.

He stated, "According to the NRM constitution, once you participate in the primaries, you must respect the outcome. Running as an independent or supporting opposition candidates after losing contradicts party principles. The constitution clearly provides that such actions warrant dismissal from the party. Impunity and defiance weaken the party's unity and strength. If there are concerns about malpractice, they should be addressed through party disciplinary procedures - not by defying the party."
