North Yorkshire Police received reports at 3:19 pm of a vehicle on the tracks near Stray Rein. Officers arrived at the scene and discovered a silver VW Golf on the railway line with one occupant, a man in his 70s, inside. Despite the efforts of emergency services, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His family are receiving support from specialist officers during this difficult time. The vehicle had been travelling along York Place before it left the road and descended the railway embankment. A tragic incident occurred in Harrogate this afternoon, when a car veered onto a railway line, resulting in the death of its driver.
North Yorkshire Police received reports at 3:19 pm of a vehicle on the tracks near Stray Rein.
Officers arrived at the scene and discovered a silver VW Golf on the railway line with one occupant, a man in his 70s, inside.
