There's a clear pattern where:

Few people start something -> They get mocked -> Others join and build conviction -> It turns into a cult -> Becomes mainstream -> Now it’s cool.

Cringe is the precursor to cool.

If you're early and being called cringe, you're probably in the Innovator/Conviction phase. Keep going.
