The Man Who Survived Alone at Sea for XXX Days on a Raft -

In November 1942, Poon Lim, a Chinese steward aboard the British merchant ship SS Benlomond, became the sole survivor when the vessel was sunk by German torpedoes in the South Atlantic. He drifted alone for XXX days on a wooden raft, initially stocked with water, biscuits, milk, and a few supplies. Stranded XXX miles off Brazil, Lim improvised fishing hooks from nails, used biscuit paste as bait, and collected rainwater using his life jacket and a canopy. He ate raw fish, seabirds, and even drank their blood for survival. At one point, he caught a shark and consumed parts of it raw, including its liver.

Throughout his ordeal, Lim was ignored by passing ships, planes, and even a surfaced submarine, possibly due to wartime suspicion. Finally, on April 5, 1943, Brazilian fishermen rescued him near the coast, about XX miles offshore. He had lost XX pounds and was hospitalized for four weeks but fully recovered. At only around XX years old, Lim later emigrated to the United States, where he became a citizen and lived until 1991. His 133-day survival remains one of the longest documented cases of being adrift at sea alone.
