🔴🇸🇾🇮🇱 A New Regional Escalation in Syria Exposes the Failure of All Sides

In yet another chapter of Syria’s ongoing chaos, Israel launched airstrikes on southern Syria under the pretext of "protecting the Druze," targeting positions held by the so-called “Salvation Government” affiliated with Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham and led by Abu Mohammad al-Julani. These strikes came at a sensitive moment, as the U.S. and Europe were cautiously attempting to rehabilitate the Syrian regime through normalization channels with the Arab world.

Israel’s intervention—lacking any international legitimacy—directly undermined Washington’s ambitions to pull Syria out of the Iranian orbit and integrate it into new regional alliances aimed at reducing tensions in Palestine and the Gulf. But as usual, Israel imposes its logic through force, seeking to transform southern Syria into a de facto buffer zone to serve its own "security" interests, even at the expense of Syria’s unity and future.

Meanwhile, the so-called “Julani government,” internationally classified as a terrorist entity, continues to expand its influence amid regional fragmentation, exploiting the political vacuum and paralysis to establish de facto control without popular legitimacy or legal recognition.

Damascus, on the other hand, remains trapped between Israeli occupation, militant threats, and Western blackmail, all while receiving insufficient support from Iran and Russia to decisively end the conflict or rebuild the state.

Once again, the United States finds itself hostage to Israel’s reckless adventurism, unable to restrain its actions, while Europe is reduced to hollow statements and endless concern. As always, it is the Syrian people who pay the price—alone—for proxy wars in which they have no stake.

Thus, Syria once more becomes a battleground for settling international scores, where Israeli delusions, American confusion, Arab fragmentation, and unlawful interventions collide—while any real path toward resolution remains entirely absent.
