This digital ledger is a chain of "blocks." Each block is a page of new transactions.

But how do new pages get added? Through a process called "mining."

Miners are powerful computers that compete to solve an incredibly difficult math puzzle. The first one to solve it gets to add the next block of transactions to the chain.
