#OTD 1943, K-74 became the only U.S. blimp lost to enemy action when it was shot down by the German submarine U-134 in the Straits of Florida. The crew was rescued except for one sailor who died after being attacked by a shark. U-134 was sunk a month later by HMS Rother.
