Here is the answer:

India charges XXX% import duty on fully built cars costing above $40000.

Now next question :why India do so?

Answer: 

It’s not that govt just earns money, it has these two primary reasons:

To promote local manufacturing so that these companies build these cars in India not just sell here.

To protect domestic automobile industry from high competition and flooding of imported cars.
