The U.S. does not call Israel a democracy because it believes it.

It calls Israel a democracy because the lie serves a purpose.

A "democracy" can never be the aggressor.

A "democracy" can never commit genocide.

A "democracy" can never be the villain.

The label is not descriptive. It is protective.

It covers bullets with ballots, bombs with language, and apartheid with applause.
