Question for evangelical Christians or others who support Israel: Ted Cruz, Nikki Haley and others have said that because the Bible / “God says to support Israel” that this means that we in the US should support Israel absolutely or nearly unquestioningly. How does this biblical religious driven support relate to the *modern* state of Israel and the *policies* of Netenyahu or other leaders? How does a policy of “supporting Israel” differentiate between various leaders and policies versus blind faith? Does it simply support all leaders and actions? Right now, for example, Cruz and Haley types support Netenyahu and his policies — if someone with the opposite policies was elected as Prime Minister would they also support these policies because they “support Israel” or because “God says to”? If not, why not? What if Netenyahu or some future Prime Minister decided to nuke Kuwait - would they support this because they “support Israel”? How about London? How exactly does one differentiate “supporting Israel” from good or bad political policies of various leaders? Presumably there is some line in the sand where the Israel supporters would not support the actions or policies of a leader and therefor the country. When? Why haven’t current actions met that standard? If the reason to support Netenyahu is because “God said to” that just doesn’t make logical sense. It seems at best an extremely skin deep, poorly thought out ideology. Would love to hear an explanation.
