At the recent Raise AI Summit in Paris, I managed to catch some time with speakers there to discuss some of the latest advancements in AI, both in the booming world of agents, and the hard-core compute required. May Habib of Writer AI told me about their new Palmyra x5 model, designed to be a workhorse for agentic-AI. Rodolfo Rosini was there to catch the AI buzz around the chip-makers represented there, such as Groq, and of course to chat about his 'reversible compute' startup Vaire Computing. And Dr. Walter Goodwin from Fractile reminded us all of how the new battleground is shifting to Neo-Clouds competing to offer the tokens essential for AI. France's significant €109 billion public-sector investment in AI and compute is certainly turning heads in Europe’s tech ecosystem, and lifting the market - especially when compared the pitiful sums offered in countries like the UK.
