Former Mercedes ally makes 'zero doubt' claim over Lewis Hamilton Ferrari struggles:

— James Vowles, Williams team principal and former colleague of Lewis Hamilton, expressed unwavering confidence in Hamilton's potential at Ferrari. Vowles, who collaborated with Hamilton during his successful stint at Mercedes, emphasized that Hamilton's current challenges are temporary. Speaking to media, Vowles remarked:

“Lewis has some elements he needs from a car to feel strength from it, and then it's a confidence build from him he is able to generate from then onwards.”

— Vowles noted that Hamilton has not yet fully adapted to the Ferrari car, but he remains optimistic about Hamilton's future performance:

“And I can see it in what's going on. He hasn't quite got that yet. But I have zero doubt that he will be on the pace and there.”

— Highlighting moments of Hamilton's potential, Vowles pointed out instances where Hamilton has shown competitiveness alongside teammate Charles Leclerc:

“You can see at times where he is confident, he and Charles are like this [Price]. Miami is a good example. He was pushing Charles ahead of him. He's just not consistently there, weekend on weekend.”

— Drawing parallels to Carlos Sainz's experience at Williams, Vowles explained the adaptation process required when transitioning to a new team and car:

“When you're in this, and you can see it with Carlos, you can see with anyone that's adapting to these cars and changing, there's so much to keep on top of and learn as a result of it.”

— Vowles concluded by affirming the possibility of Hamilton's success through adaptation and perseverance:

“It's all possible. It's all adaptation.”
