Today, once again, he proved us right. This time, it wasn’t just about censorship or coercive measures against the most prominent political leader in Brazil — a man who has never refused to comply with court decisions or participate in legal proceedings. What makes this decision even more outrageous is that it leans on actions taken by the U.S. government, following President Donald Trump’s announcement of tariffs against Brazil — as if that somehow constituted a crime. In essence, Alexandre is trying to criminalize President Trump and the U.S. government. Powerless against them, he chose to take my father hostage. And in doing so, he’s not only attacking Brazilian democracy — he’s recklessly damaging Brazil’s relationship with its most important ally. This is institutional sabotage, pure and simple. But it won’t work. We’re not backing down. Silencing my father won’t silence Brazil. I, and millions of Brazilians, will keep speaking out — louder, stronger, and more determined — until our voice becomes deafening.
