A few years ago, NAVAIR tried a different solution: acquiring an ex-RAF E-3D Sentry to convert into a flying trainer.

But the airframe wasn’t viable and they lacked the data to remove the dome. Instead of flying, the aircraft is now being harvested for spare parts. /5
