They hunt with a sponge on their beak, like a clown nose. Using the sponge to protect their beaks from sharp rocks, they root around on the sea floor to stir up barred sand perch for a meal. This behavior is passed down through generations is harder than it looks. The sponge interferes with the dolphins' echolocation system because it muffles the sound. It takes practice to compensate.
