Lavish North Korean Resort for Foreigners Closes Just Three Weeks After Grand Opening

North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un proudly opened his new seaside resort in Wonsan-Kalma on July 1, calling it “one of this year’s greatest achievements”. But now, just three weeks later, foreign tourists have been banned from entering the complex. 

The resort, once hailed as a major showcase project, has abruptly shut its doors to international visitors — with no official explanation.

According to Bloomberg, this may be due to the fact that the resort is not yet complete. Satellite images show that one of the largest buildings appears to be unused: there are almost no people nearby, and the rooftop pool is still not filled with water.
